Oneida County District Court History

Oneida County has a useful local records history. The county sheriff history page says Oneida County was created by the first Idaho Legislature in January 1864 with the county seat at Soda Springs. In 1866, the Legislature moved the county seat to Malad City. The page says many officials had already moved to Malad, and that county records were at first not turned over easily. The records were eventually carried to the new county seat by Henry Peck in the winter of 1866-1867.
